Why setting boundaries is necessary

We often hear people say that setting boundaries is important, but it doesn’t always come with an explanation and I feel like it’s easier for us to do something when we understand it on a deeper level, so here I am trying to bring you a new perspective. When we deal with people, and this can be in romantic relationships, friendships, family, coworkers etc, it’s necessary to set boundaries in order for us to protect our energy. Our energy is who we are, it's a part of us. We need to protect it in order for us to have the best experiences and attract what is meant for us. Energy doesn't die, but it does change. And a lot of times this has to do with our environment and the people around us. If we are constantly surrounding ourselves with people that disrespect us, we keep attracting more people that disrespect us or situations that we didn't wanna be in in the first place. To set those boundaries it is important for us to know ourselves, know what we’re okay with, what we’re not okay with, how we want to respond when someone crosses our line. We only get to know these things by experiences where we didn’t have boundaries and because of that we got hurt and disrespected. So be grateful for those experiences because even tho they weren’t pleasant they helped you grow and learn more about yourself. I feel like a lot of people do set boundaries but then they feel guilty for speaking up when someone crosses them. This could be because maybe the person involved is someone really close to them or maybe there were times when they did speak up and the other person projected their own insecurities and trauma onto them, and this caused them to stay quiet and let them play the victim. I want you to remember that someone that values you and respects you will respect your boundaries without getting offended. If someone gets offended by your boundaries it’s only because they can’t take advantage of you anymore, and that’s not someone you want in your life anyway. I think that something that isn’t spoken enough about is that we need to respect our own boundaries. At the end of the day how can we expect someone to respect our boundaries if we won’t respect them ourselves? How do you respect your own boundaries? By standing up for yourself, speaking up and taking the action necessary when your boundaries are being crossed. Nobody will have your back like you have your own back, no matter how much they love you. I feel like a lot of times we confuse love with crossing boundaries and you might be a bit confused by this but I will give you an example. Let’s say you’ve been in a connection for a while but you’ve outgrown each other, so you decided to end things and tell the person that you don’t want them in your life anymore. However they keep trying to get in touch with you over and over again even tho you made it perfectly clear that that’s not what you want. You might think they’re doing this from a place of love, they’re fighting for you. And even tho you may be right and they may love you, at the same time they do not respect you and they do not respect your boundaries, because if they did they would honour your choice. This is lack of respect. Love is not enough to make a connection work. Without respect it will never work. We are grown ups, there is no need for anybody to chase anybody. Something else I want to mention is how important it is for us to set boundaries for ourself, not only for other people. We all have goals and dreams we want to achieve, but without setting boundaries for ourselves we will continuously sabotage ourselves. Set your goals and then look at your daily habits. Which one of those habits doesn’t serve you? Which one of the people in your life don’t serve you? Anything that isn’t aligned with your goals and your Higher Self has to GO. No guilt, no excuses. You are doing this for yourself because no one else will do it for you. Nobody lives your life for you and nobody will make your dreams come true for you. You have to stand up for yourself and love yourself enough to say “This is not okay” to whoever or whatever holds you back. Your self respect has to be stronger than anything else. This is a beautiful journey, and the more progress you make, the more love you will have for yourself and for life in general. I hope this helped someone. Sending you all much love and light.
